Threads of Tradition: A Mother's Journey into Hand Embroidery
Quynh's story is one of passion, perseverance and the timeless beauty of hand embroidery. A mother of two, Quynh is dedicated not only to raising her daughter, but also to hand embroidery and, through it, to every subtle stitch she makes in her hand embroidery.
Her journey into hand embroidery was not planned, but rather began with a simple gesture of kindness. It all started when a close friend of Quynh’s, a baker who specialized in handmade creations, asked her to embroider an apron for her. At the time, Quynh only had basic sewing skills, but with determination and self-taughtness, she painstakingly created her first masterpiece. When her friend proudly shared the apron online, her admiration quickly turned into inquiries from many people. This one heartfelt gift grew into something much bigger.
Years later, as a full-time mother, Quynh rediscovered her passion for embroidery. She was looking for a creative outlet that would bring meaning to her life while also helping to support her family. Inspired by her daughter, she began making delicate hair accessories for her. What began as small, personal creations soon grew into a business rooted in tradition and storytelling.
Quynh’s journey took a new turn when she began collaborating with Seriha, a brand that brings Vietnamese craftsmanship to Finland. This partnership allowed Quynh to focus full-time on embroidery and share its refined beauty with a new audience. Seriha’s storytelling approach to design spoke to her deeply. At Seriha, each pattern and color is carefully selected to reflect both Vietnam’s rich cultural heritage and the minimalist aesthetic that Finns value.
Quynh’s work is more than just making beautiful accessories—it’s about building a community. As her business grew, she reached out to two mothers who shared the same passion for embroidery. Together, they formed a close-knit support network, united by their shared dreams and love for the craft. This collaboration not only brings Vietnamese embroidery to a wider audience, but also creates new opportunities for Vietnamese artisans to continue their traditional work.
For Quynh, hand embroidery is more than just a craft—it is a bridge. A bridge between the past and the present, cultures and people. Every stitch of embroidery tells a story. Every piece is made with love, and every customer who uses or donates her embroidery becomes part of this timeless tradition.
